The Hendricks House - World Travels

The next group of pictures was taken on our way to Rome and while we were in Rome.
We made the trip in a heavily loaded 1948 Ford, driving from Landsberg, Germany over the Alps and back without a bit of trouble.

You can click any of these photos to see a larger version.

On our way we passed through the beautiful country of Switzerland.

This was a pleasant stop on our way.  An American Army base in northern Italy. We enjoyed American food
(hamburgers). The grey ford with the luggage rack was our transport.

A "must see" on the way to Rome is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It didn't look safe to me.

This was taken 75 miles north of Rome ... nice photo.

Ready for a day of sightseeing This is Lee and the Raymonds. Lee has her guidebook in her hands.

This is a view of St Peters square. The crowd is beginning to arrive for the appearance of the pope.

After the arrival of the pope, this is what we saw. He is in the window on the third floor. Think it was Pope Pius the 12th.

Louise and Lee are dwarfed by the size of the Colosseum.

This is a picture taken from the side of the King Victor Emmanuelle II monument in Rome.

Korea

My tour of duty in Korea was only one year but it seemed much longer as it was an unaccompanied tour.
The peoples clothing was very colorful but the villages and countryside was drab.
I was stationed at Osan AFB 40 miles south of Seoul.

You will find this type of building all over Korea. It is some sort of shrine. I don't remember what was inside.

This picture was taken on Armed Forces Day when the general public was allowed on base.

Another view of the crowd on Armed Forces Day 1965 at Osan AFB, Korea.
