The Hendricks House During WWII

The next few pictures are of my WWII outfit taken while we were in Australia.
We were in the 22nd Bomb Group that flew the B-26, B-25, and B-24 in that order.
We arrived in Brisbane, Australia on Feb 25th, 1942.

Fifth Air Force Patch

We were part of the Fifth Air Force which was commanded by General George C. Kinney.

Antill Plains

This is the area where the 33rd Sqdn was located while we were at Woodstock.

Green, Gray, Hendricks, Cameron. This was taken at Woodstock, just outside of Townsville, Australia.

We were waiting for our new B-25's after losing most of our B-26's to accidents and enemy fire.

The big guy on the left is my cousin, Bill Hendricks, shown at Milne Bay,
N. G. just before the invasion of the Philippines.

 

Island of Owi

This was my last duty station in the Southwest Pacific. This island was part of the Schouten Island group and was located just northwest of New Guinea and close to Biak island.

The Revels Family

This is a picture of my cousins and their parents and one wife. All the male members of the family were in the military during WWII. Even the father spent most of the war overseas.

Nice Horse

I rented this horse from a riding stable near Garbut Aerdrome at Townsville, Australia.

Last Operational B-26

This picture was taken in 1998 and is the last B-26 that is able to get airborne.
